These murals, measuring approximately 9' X 12', were created by our students using a grid process. Students were taught how to proportionately enlarge a picture using measurement, estimation and plotting points on a grid pattern. Painting methods and color application were also practiced.

George Seurat (1859 - 1891) Seurat was a Post-Impressionist artist who felt that art must be based on a system. He covered his canvases with systematic dots of color which was intended, at a distance, to merge in the viewers eye producing a shimmering, translucent effect.

John Biggers. (1926 - ) Houston artist John Biggers, now 73, long ago committed his canvas to portraying the African-American experience. Proud bent bodies and gnarled hands form the visual vocabulary of his early work inspired by frequent visits to Africa.
